A judge in Atlanta denied bond on Thursday for rapper Gunna, who is charged with racketeering alongside fellow rapper Young Thug as well as more than two dozen others.

Gunna, whose given name is Sergio Kitchens, had previously been denied bond by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville, who held a hearing on Thursday to reevaluate that judgment. Glanville expressed concern that if Kitchens was released before his trial, he would threaten or intimidate witnesses.

Prosecutors claim that Young Thug, real name Jeffery Lamar Williams, is the founding member of the violent Atlanta street criminal gang Young Slime Life, and that Kitchens is a member of the gang’s management.

According to the 88-page indictment, which was filed in May, the gang committed numerous murders, shootings, and carjackings over a decade and praised its actions in music and on social networking sites.

Kitchens declared his innocence in a statement released on his birthday last month.

Fulton County Assistant District Attorney Don Geary stated that Kitchens might’ve been connected in several crimes unrelated to the indictment and that the state believes he should not be released on bond.
