According to authorities, an eighth-grader in Ohio shot his father during an argument over bedtime.

Police were dispatched to a home in Forest Park, Cincinnati, on Wednesday, May 11, after reports of a shooting, WXIX reports.

It was revealed by the network that the police had learned that a minor, 15-year-old boy, shot his 45-year-old father once in the stomach.

Fortunately, the father is expected to make a full recovery after being transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center following the shooting.

According to the network, the 17-year-old stepsister of the boy made the 911 call and told police that he had shot his father.

After the shooting, Forest Park Police Lt. Adam Pape said the boy stole a nearby car and drove to Lexington, Kentucky, where his mother lives, about 100 miles away.

Despite the fact that the adolescent surrendered peacefully hours later and is now in custody, Lexington police and a SWAT team went to her mother’s house.

Accused of felonious assault and vehicle theft, the teenager was arraigned on Monday, WXIX reports.

On Monday, the adolescent’s older brother, mother, and defense attorney pleaded for his release.

Even though she had requested that her son be placed in her custody, the mother’s location out of state made this impossible.

His father, who was in the hospital, told a juvenile court magistrate via video link on Monday that he no longer wanted his son to live with him.

“He can’t stay with me, your honor. It’s pretty much self-explanatory to see where I’m at. I feel like these little problems have been popping up and up, and I feel like it’s a slap on the wrist to let him out right now,” he said.

On Tuesday, May 24, a hearing will be held to give the family and attorney a chance to come up with a plan for the child’s future.
