Head-On Collision: 5 Children, 2 Adults Killed in Fiery Crash on Chicago Interstate

According to Illinois State Police, 5 children were among seven people killed Sunday in McHenry County after two vehicles collided on Interstate 90.

According to NBC Chicago, a vehicle was driving the wrong way when it collided with another at around 2:11 a.m. near the village of Hampshire. Upon impact, both vehicles burst into flames.

According to police, the collision killed a woman and five children inside the van, as well as a woman in the other vehicle.

According to police, one person with serious injuries was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

A section of westbound I-90 was closed for several hours while authorities worked on the scene.

As of late Sunday, none of the victims had been identified. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
