A Florida couple is facing multiple child neglect charges after their 6-year-old boy was discovered unconscious with his head in a toilet.

According to Florida arrest report acquired by NBC affiliate WESH, on Tuesday, July 5, Osceola County authorities were notified to reports of a drowning at a Knights Inn guestroom in Kissimmee, Florida.

Bianca Blaise, the child’s mother, told cops that her son’s “head was in the toilet like he was drinking water” and that he “went unconscious.”

When police came, they discovered the boy had no pulse and was in the arms of his father, Larry Rhodes Jr., according to the station.

According to WESH, Osceola County deputies observed the youngster had injuries, notably swollen eyes as well as blood in his mouth.

Police then performed CPR on the boy and rushed him to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with a brain bleed, a potentially fatal situation, and was placed on life support.

When officers arrived, they discovered eight persons in the hotel room, six of them were minors. Since April, the family had been residing at the motel.

According to the station, a 4-year-old boy in the room had bruises on his head as well as “new wounds” surrounding his mouth.

When questioned about the injury, Blaise and Rhodes Jr. stated that their children had been fighting. According to WESH, the 4-year-old informed authorities that “daddy hit me.”

Both parents were escorted to the sheriff’s office for questioning, where Blaise stated Rhodes had previously “whooped” the kids and that he had lately grown more furious because he had run out of his schizophrenic medication.

Blaise also rejected knowing of her children’s ailments during the interview. WESH contacted the sheriff’s office to inquire about the whereabouts of the other kids and see whether the sheriff had any new information regarding this case.

An executive assistant to the sheriff could just confirm that there is a criminal investigation underway.
