Troup County authorities are releasing more information about the murder of a pregnant mother and her unborn baby. Alonzo Dargan Jr., the suspect in the murder, was apprehended in North Carolina on Thursday.
Akeila Ware, 29, was discovered dead inside her wrecked car by first responders Tuesday afternoon. She was shot several times.
Dargan, who is stationed at Fort Bragg Army Base in North Carolina, was linked to the murder by evidence found at the scene, according to investigators. According to the evidence, he was in Troup County at the time of the shooting.
According to the sheriff’s office, Dargan was following Ware in a car on Highway 18 before opening fire on her.
According to authorities, Dargan, an active-duty serviceman, grew up in Troup County and knew Ware from school. He was the biological father of her unborn child.
Dargan is also married and has other children, according to authorities.
