Bullet Hits Woman's 5-Year-Old Son After She Fires Shot At Dog (Image: Screenshot/YT/FOX26)

A mother from north Houston is in jail after police say she shot a firearm at a neighboring dog, and the round from her pistol ricocheted and struck her 5-year-old son in the belly.
According to authorities, the child is presently in stable condition at a local hospital.
Angelia Mia Vargas, 24, is charged with deadly conduct-discharge of a firearm, according to a press release from Houston police.
According to HPD detectives, the child’s mother discharged a small pistol three times at a dog running free and across street. One of the shots ricocheted and hit the child.
