Family members have identified a 10-year-old girl who was allegedly stabbed to death by her mother in Raleigh.
Kamari Reed, a 10-year-old girl, was identified by her family. Lawrencia Reed, Kamari’s mother, stabbed her and her 18-year-old aunt at the Huntington Hills Apartments on Coach Drive near James Road Friday night, according to family members who spoke with WREG.
MPD responded to the apartments off Coach Drive Friday night for a wounding call, according to the police affidavit. Officers were told that a 10-year-old girl, an 18-year-old teen, and a 12-year-old boy were on the premises running from the apartment with blood all over them when they arrived.
Lawrencia Reed, according to the affidavit, stabbed the 10-year-old and the 18-year-old before attempting to drown the three and 12-year-old boys.
Neighbors kicked the door open after following a blood trail into the apartments. As neighbors entered the apartment, they discovered the 3-year-old and Reed soaked near a tub of water.
The following is what Reed said about the stabbing to officers on the scene:
“I told them to get into the kneeling position, my sons did but my daughter and sister didn’t and they had to go. So, I did what I had to do.”
Reed was arrested and transported to Jail East, where he is charged with three counts of felony criminal attempt and first-degree murder.
