'I understood the feeling': O.J. Simpson Says He Can Understand How Will Smith Felt at Oscars

O.J. Simpson says he understands Will Smith’s outburst against Chris Rock, but the “Men in Black” actor ended up going too far, in his opinion.

The 74-year-old former football star said on an IG video that he’s been asked about Smith laying the smack down on Rock on stage during Sunday’s Academy Awards celebration after the Oscar winner took issue with a joke Rock crafted about Smith’s wife. Smith later apologized.

“I understand the feeling,” Simpson said. “In my life, I’ve been through a lot of crap. When I was raising three young kids every comedian in the county had an O.J. routine. And don’t think I wouldn’t want to B-slap a couple of those guys, but you’ve got to accept it’s human.”

“I know this,” Simpson said. “After what happened to me in Las Vegas, if I would have done that in front of a billion people watching around the world, they would have given me life without (parole). I’m just saying.”
