According to Wichita’s KAKE-TV, Arnthia Willis, 58, reportedly called her daughter on Thursday, notified her of the “shooting,” and then hung up.

The daughter was frightened, so she phoned 911, which sent more than 15 cops in full gear, guns drawn, and EMS in tow to Willis’ house.

According to the report, police burst through the door but found no one inside the home.

The report stated that officers broke down the door but found no one inside.

Authorities later discovered that Willis was actually at work and had orchestrated the shooting as a prank.

According to Lt. Ronald Hunt of the Wichita Police Department, while April Fools’ jokes can be “good,” when the police are involved, “it’s not funny anymore,” according to the Wichita Eagle.

The mother was arrested on suspicion of making an unlawful request for emergency services.
