Kelis Slams Beyoncé For Sampling Song Without Permission

It appears that not everyone is looking forward to Beyonce’s next album release. Just one day prior to the release of Beyonce’s 7th studio album, “Renaissance: Act 1,” fellow singer Kelis commented on Beyonce’s sampling of her work.

Apparently, the “Milkshake” singer was unaware that Beyoncé had used one of her songs until the track list was released, at which point she learned the same as everyone else.

Kelis wrote in a message she posted to her culinary page on Instagram:

“My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding. I heard about this the same way everyone else did. Nothing is ever as it seems, some of the people in this business have no soul or integrity and they have everyone fooled.”

It appears like Bey sampled “Get Along With You” by Kelis for her song “Energy.”

Beyoncé is notorious for working in secret and rarely reveals information about her music before its release. This time, though, she has released album artwork and even a complete track listing and songwriter credits.

The Neptunes’ Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, who are officially acknowledged as the song’s authors and producers, are credited with writing “Energy,” but not Kelis.
