Las Vegas Mom Facing Murder Charge; Reportedly Called Her Child's Death 'A Necessary Sacrifice'

Disturbing new revelations have surfaced in the case of the Las Vegas woman arrested last week for the murder of her five-year-old daughter in a sweltering room, including that the mother was overheard stating ‘it was a necessary sacrifice’ and ‘I killed it.’

Kemaya Taylor, a 23-year-old mom of two, was arrested on June 28 and charged with open murder and child abuse after police performed a welfare check located her eldest daughter dead inside a sweltering room with no central air, reported Daily Mail.

Cops were sent to Taylor’s house 12 days earlier for a welfare check after an associate indicated that Taylor had made a “vague suicidal threat.” According to the arrest record, she informed police she was going to quit her work and to “watch out on the news.”

According to the report, on June 28, police officers contacted Taylor and indicated that her house was in “total disorder” and that Taylor seemed to be “suffering from some form of mental illness.” Taylor was arrested when the officers searched the property and discovered a locked bedroom door upstairs.

The officers discovered the two girls after kicking open the door. The younger child was standing beside the bed, and the 5-year-old was unconscious on the bed. One of the officers started CPR on the youngster until medical attention appeared and declared her dead, according to WDHN.

According to the report, the temperature inside the girls’ room was “exponentially warmer,” reaching 101 degrees. According to KLAS, a humidifier inside was also set to its highest level.

Taylor refused to communicate with cops and insisted on being brought to a “insane asylum,” according to authorities.

She was still being held at the Clark County Detention Center on Wednesday. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for July 15, according to the Review-Journal.
