The Nets were the betting favorites to begin the season.

The Celtics humiliated Brooklyn, a supposed superteam that was expected to win the championship. Their season came to an appalling end Monday night in front of a packed house of 18,099 at Barclays Center in a first-round sweep ending with a Game 4 score of 116-112.

It was the bitter conclusion to an uncertain and unimaginable season packed with more melodrama than even terrible reality television could muster. It wasn’t fake, though.
