According to a Facebook post by New Philadelphia Police Chief Michael Goodwin, a 1-year-old child ended up dying after being left in a hot vehicle for 5 hours by his 19-year-old father on Thursday.

After reportedly admitting to leaving the child in the vehicle on purpose, the father face various charges, including murder.

Landon Parrott, the child’s father, brought his child to the Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital after discovering the 1-year-old unresponsive. During the initial inquiry, NPPD discovered contradictory information from Parrot.

Further investigation revealed during the interrogatiion with Parrott that the child died after being left in a vehicle so the child “wouldn’t be a disturbance” inside the residence, according to police. It was 87 degrees outside at that time, and the child had been left alone in the car for about 5 hours, according to police.

Parrot has been charged with murder, endangering children on two counts, and involuntary manslaughter.

He is currently being held on a $250,000 bond in the Tuscarawas County Jail.
