According to police, a man is continuing to fight for his life after being dragged out of his car by carjackers and shot in the stomach in Northeast Philadelphia.

Four men approach a 2015 silver Mercedes Benz along the 1400 block of East Cheltenham Avenue at 4:46 a.m. Sunday, according to surveillance video obtained by NBC10. The 27-year-old driver was then dragged from the car by the men.

After that, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and began firing. The victim was hit in the stomach with a single bullet. The suspects then drove away in the man’s car.

The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. Raheem Bell was identified by a close relative.

“I just want him to be okay,” Bell’s neighbor, Nneka Burnett, told NBC10. “He’s a good guy. I just want him to be okay. I just want him to pull through. He has a beautiful family. His mother’s a nurse. His father just got honored with the city.”

There have been no arrests and no weapon has been found.

The stolen Mercedes Benz has the license plate number LFD-2466, according to the police. The suspects have not been described in detail.

Bell was described by neighbors as a positive presence in the community who organized a Christmas toy drive for families affected by the pandemic last year and recently launched a home care company to assist those in need.
