Dave Chappelle hasn’t opened for anybody in years, but everything shifted on Saturday evening when he fired up the crowd for Chris Rock and Kevin Hart.
It came as a tremendous surprise to everyone at Madison Square Garden in New York. Dave walked out on stage, cigarette in hand, with no introduction. He walked out to Radiohead’s “Karma Police” and then spoke extensively about cancel culture, which the audience devoured.
There was an indirect reference to the Minneapolis theater that canceled his event a few days earlier after objections ensued. “Had to sneak my way in here,” Dave explained, adding, “despite what you may have seen in the news, I’m okay, and I appreciate the support.”
#ChrisRock , #KevinHart , and #DaveChappelle on the same stage at MSG was nothing short of legendary. Honored to have witnessed 🙏🏼 (more footage on my Instagram @Callistusss ) pic.twitter.com/4VHDXJGiiW
