Chris Rock refuses to discuss the moment he was smacked on stage by Will Smith during the 2022 Academy Awards ceremony on Friday night.

“I’m OK, I have a whole show and I’m not talking about that until I get paid. Life is good. I got my hearing back,” the comedian and presenter said during his show at Fantasy Springs on Friday night, according to the California-based Desert Sun newspaper.

Smith hit Rock during the Academy Awards event on March 27 after the comedian cracked a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who struggles with alopecia—an autoimmune condition that results in hair loss.

Due to her appearance, Rock joked that Pinkett Smith could perhaps star in G.I. Jane 2. He was referring to Demi Moore’s shaved head in the 1997 film G.I. Jane.

“Jada, I love ya. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see ya,” at the 94th Academy Awards, Rock stated.

Smith then suddenly and unexpectedly rose from his seat and smacked Rock across the face onstage, before resuming his seat and screaming, “Keep my wife’s name out your f**king mouth.”

Rather than address the Will Smith slap, Rock’s set on Friday included jokes about the Kardashians, Meghan Markle, and Hillary Clinton, the newspaper reported.
