Houma police are sharing information on a case that has affected even seasoned investigators emotionally.

Tuesday evening, the mother led authorities to the lifeless body of two-year-old Ezekiel Harry, who had been stuffed in a duffel bag and dumped in a stranger’s trash can just one block from the police station.

“We do suspect some physical abuse, and this is coming from one of our coroner’s office investigators that based on initial observation,” Coleman said.

Maya Jones, age 28, and her boyfriend, Jermaine Robinson, age 37, have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

“There are some reports of some possible domestic violence that occurred, also some drug use,” he said.

The police are still awaiting the results of the autopsy performed on Wednesday afternoon.

Child protective services will determine who will get custody of the three elder children, ages 5 to 10.
