A Black man is in custody after firing shots inside Hair World Salon in Dallas‘ Koreatown earlier in the month, wounding 3 Asian women. According to his girlfriend, he suffered from delusions about Asian Americans.  Police say, the shooting could have been motivated by hatred.

Police tweeted before dawn Tuesday that a suspect was being interviewed and processed, but provided no additional information until an arrest warrant was issued Tuesday afternoon.

NBC 5 obtained an arrest warrant affidavit naming 36-year-old Jeremy Theron Smith as the suspect in the salon shooting shortly before 11 a.m.

Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia confirmed Smith’s arrest Tuesday afternoon, saying he was arrested on unrelated charges and brought in for questioning.

Smith was arrested Monday night and agreed to speak with detectives without representation.

Smith told police he was in the Royal Lane salon area around the time of the crime on May 11 while looking for a company that could fix a broken pane of glass from a garage door.

According to police, someone dressed all in black exited a maroon minivan, started walking through the parking lot to the salon, and fired 13 shots from a.22 caliber rifle. According to police, seven casings were discovered inside the business, and another 6 were discovered outside. Three women were shot and suffered forearm, foot, and lower back injuries. All of them were admitted to hospital and are now recovering after being released.
