In connection with the disappearance of a University of Mississippi student, a 22-year-old man was charged with murder on Friday.

Sheldon Timothy Herrington Jr. is suspected of killing 20-year-old Jay Lee, who was last seen leaving Campus Walk Apartments on July 8 at roughly 5:58 a.m. sporting a silver robe or housecoat, a gold turban, and gray slippers.

Investigators stated they are still looking for Lee’s body, who is considered dead.

“This is still an ongoing investigation and updates will be given at a later date,” the Oxford Police Department said in a press release.

Herrington’s attorney Carlos Moore said, “Although he has been charged with a serious crime he is presumed innocent.”

“We will vigorously defend him and look forward to clearing his good name,” Moore wrote on Twitter.

Lee might have been seeing someone at the Molly Barr Trails apartment complex in Oxford before going missing, according to police.

Lee was driving a black 2014 Ford Fusion with a gold racing stripe running down the center of the hood and front bumper.

Three days after Lee went missing, the Ford Fusion with the license plate “JAYLEE1” was discovered in the Molly Barr Trails apartment complex.
