Two women were stabbed to death inside a Dorchester home on Sunday afternoon. It occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m.

At the location, one woman was declared dead. A second woman was rushed to the Boston Medical Center but later died.

The assault also injured a dog. Two children were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, but they were unharmed. Marcus Chavis, 34, of Dorchester, was arrested by Boston Police. He will be charged with murder and animal cruelty in Dorchester District Court.

The victims’ identities have not been released by police. One of the people who died, according to neighbors, was a grandmother who resided on the first floor of the triple decker.
