Police stated the victim was stolen from repeatedly by the people responsible for ramming him with a vehicle in the Bronx, and the crime was captured on camera.
The 39-year-old victim is seen jogging the final steps of a crosswalk and landing on the sidewalk when a black four-door vehicle swerves off the roadway and directly into him. It happened around 6:40 a.m. on East 169th Street, according to police.
The force of the car’s crash propels the man into the air, causing him to flip before landing on the sidewalk, where he appeared to lay still for several moments.
What follows is nearly inconceivable, even after everything has been captured on video. The footage shows the suspects getting out of their car, running over to the man’s body, and stealing some of his personal stuff.
According to police, the suspects departed the area, then returned and ran towards the victim again to check his wallets before fleeing for good.
On Sunday, the 39-year-old was still hospitalized in critical condition after suffering major physical trauma.
