A suspect in the shooting death of 16-year-old Dyshea Hall turned himself in this week in DeKalb County, Georgia, according to police.
The shooting, which occurred on June 12 in the parking area of a Kroger shopping plaza in DeKalb, Georgia, just outside Atlanta, killed Hall and injured a 17-year-old. The 16-year-old was a representative of Ms. D’s Dancing Dolls, a dance team that appeared on the Lifetime reality show Bring It!
The alleged shooters were also involved in a shooting incident outside Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta on the same night.
In the incident at the shopping plaza, police believe that a dispute between two groups resulted in one shooting the other. In a report issued after the shooting, Atlanta police stated, “Preliminary investigation indicates that the incident stemmed from a dispute between family members that escalated to gunfire.”
DeAnthony Cullins turned himself in, police said Wednesday. He’s charged with murder and aggravated assault.
Before his arrest, Cullins was a person of interest. Police released photos of a second person of interest the day after the shooting. Their whereabouts are unknown.
Ms. D’s Dancing Dolls coach Dianna Williams created a GoFundMe for Hall’s memorial service. As of publication, the page had raised almost $5,000.
