According to police and law enforcement sources, a young mom pushing her 3-month-old child in a stroller was gunned down on an Upper East Side street Wednesday night.

According to the NYPD and sources, the 20-year-old woman was shot once in the head at close range by a suspect who walked up behind her near Lexington Avenue and East 95th Street around 8:25 p.m.

According to police, the baby was not harmed.

The woman was found unresponsive at the scene by first responders. Officials said she was rushed to Metropolitan Hospital and pronounced dead about a couple of hours later.

According to police, the shooter fled up East 95th Street on foot while wearing a black hoodie and sweatpants. He was still being sought as of Thursday morning.

The shooting happened near Samuel Seabury Playground, and a 10-year-old girl playing there told The Post that she misidentified the gunfire for fire crackers.

“But then I realized there was a gunshot. And it really frightened me because I was right there at the park playing and I never would have thought this would have happened,” said the girl, who identified herself as Gabriella.

According to sources, one shell casing was retrieved at the scene, and police were canvassing the area for video.

The cause of the fatal shooting was not immediately clear.

During a press conference, NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell urged “anyone who has information that can help us with this investigation” to contact police.
