A one-month-old newborn girl was among seven individuals injured in a mass shooting in Englewood on Thursday night.

“It hurts when you get a call. You out here fighting against gun violence every single day, yourself,” Englewood neighborhood activist Charles McKenzies said to ABC7 before he was overcome by emotion.

Terriana Smith, the one month old, is still in the hospital after being shot in the head during a reckless daytime attack at 66th and Halsted Street in Englewood. The infant is in critical condition after undergoing major surgery on Friday morning.

The incident was recorded on video by a neighboring security camera. It shows three shooters firing in all directions after arriving in a dark-colored Jeep as people fled for their safety. The gunmen then re-enter the car and sped away.
