Tyson plans to go back to boxing to face Roy Jones Jr. on September 12 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, according to Yahoo Sports.

Andy Foster, the California State Athletic Commission’s executive director, stated that Tyson had placed a hold on that date. Foster told Yahoo Sports that he had recently met Tyson and Jones via Zoom, and that the fight would be an exhibition.

They ‘re not going to wear headgear but they’re going to wear bigger than usual gloves. Foster said he thought 12 ounce gloves would fit.

“This isn’t a situation where they’re going out there to try to take each other’s heads off,” Foster stated. “They’re just going to be in there moving around the ring and letting fans see these legends.”

Since losing to Kevin McBride on 11 June 2005, Tyson has not fought. As of Feb. 8, 2018, Jones hasn’t fought. Jones is 51 and Tyson is 54.
