Authorities in Spring, Texas, say a 7-year-old boy who went missing on Thursday morning was discovered dead inside a washing machine.

Police said Troy Khoeler had been missing for more than two hours before he was discovered.

“We are sad to report the missing 7 year old we posted on earlier in the 44 00 block of Rosegate has been found deceased,” Harris County Constable Mark Herman said Thursday on Twitter: “We ask for everyone’s prayers for the family.”

Police claimed they have no idea how the child got inside the washing machine or how he died.

According to initial reports, he vanished in northeast Harris County, according to the constable’s office.

Authorities reported later Thursday that the youngster was in foster care and that the foster parents had been questioned, but no arrests or charges had been filed as of Friday morning.

The investigation, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, is ongoing.
