A Mississippi woman faces felony child abuse charges after her child tested positive for a variety of drugs, including methamphetamine and ecstasy.

Sgt. J.D. Carter of the Jones County Sheriff’s Department said Victoria Bolan, 28, was arrested Tuesday morning.

“On Jan. 5, 2022, we received information that Ms. Bolan’s 1-year-old child tested positive for methamphetamines, marijuana and MDMA (ecstasy) back in December of 2021 while she had custody of the child,” Carter said.

According to Carter, the child is no longer in Bolan’s custody and is safe. It is unknown how the drugs were obtained by the one-year-old child.

Bolan was ordered to post a $5,000 bond. She is currently detained at the Jones County Jail pending her initial court appearance.

Over two dozen women in the immediate area have been charged with felony child abuse after their babies tested positive for illegal drugs at birth, indicating that the mother consumed the substances while the baby was still in the womb.
