A Missouri man will spend his remaining years in prison for killing his wife, who looked up what to do if your husband is upset you are pregnant” prior to mysteriously disappearing in 2019.
Beau Rothwell, 31, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of his wife of 4 years, Jennifer Rothwell, who was pregnant at the time, according to KSDK on Friday.
“We issued this case of murder first and as was stated in sentencing today, we never made any other offers. That was not an option,” according to St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell.
Jennifer Rothwell, who was six weeks pregnant at the time of her murder, will never be able to hold her child, Bell mentioned during the trial.
Earlier this year, Beau Rothwell was convicted guilty of first-degree murder and several lesser crimes.
He admits to killing his wife after a violent dispute about an affair he was having with another woman, hoping to be found guilty of a lesser manslaughter charge.
He said in November 2019, he beat his 28-year-old wife with a mallet.
Prosecutors said that the husband was a meticulous plotter, pointing to messages he had with another lady in the months leading up to the killing and a list of pros and drawbacks he created on whether he should leave his wife.
He was also caught on video buying cleaning supplies the day before Jennifer Rothwell went missing, according to authorities.
Her body was discovered horribly battered a week after Beau Rothwell reported her missing.
