Mo’Nique Announces Netflix Comedy Special After Settling Discrimination Lawsuit

Mo’Nique is filming a Netflix stand-up special. Mo’Nique questioned, “Can y’all believe this [bleep]?” in her Netflix announcement.

“Hey y’all it’s your girl Mo’Nique and I’m excited to say that I’ll be shooting my first Netflix special.” The special’s specifics have not yet been disclosed.

The dispute arose when Mo’Nique said Netflix reportedly offered her $500k for her special, which paled in contrast to the $20 million and $11 million bids Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock were receiving at the time, respectively.

In 2019, Mo’Nique sued Netflix for racial and gender-based discrimination after requesting her fans to boycott Netflix in an Instagram video. The matter was ultimately resolved outside of court early this year. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed in full, but it appears that both sides are willing to work together in the future.
