The mother of a high school student who killed 21 people in a school shooting in Texas has pleaded for forgiveness for her son, explaining that he “had his reasons for doing what he did.”

Tuesday’s school shooting in Uvalde claimed the lives of 19 students and 2 teachers from Robb Elementary School.

The massacre, perpetrated by 18-year-old Salvador Ramos, was the deadliest school shooting in the United States since Newtown, Connecticut, nearly 10 years ago.

Adriana Martinez Reyes stated that she had no explanation for her son’s attack on the school after he was shot and killed by law enforcement.

“I have no words to say. I don’t know what he was thinking,” an upset Ms. Reyes advised a CNN affiliate’s Televisa journalist from inside a vehicle.

“He had his reasons for doing what he did and please don’t judge him. I only want the innocent children who died to forgive me.”

On Thursday, Ramos’ father, a 42-year-old Salvador Ramos, expressed remorse for his son’s actions.

“I just want the people to know I’m sorry, man, [for] what my son did,” the elder Ramos told the Daily Beast. “He should’ve just killed me, you know, instead of doing something like that to someone.”

The 18-year-old had taken the family truck and shot his grandma in the face when he arrived at school. She herself phoned the cops on him, and she is still in severe condition in the hospital.

Ramos was a high school dropout with no criminal record or mental illness history, and detectives are still looking for a motive.
