Multiple People Shot Inside a Church in Orange County California

Following a shooting at a Laguna Woods church on Sunday afternoon, one person was killed and four others were critically injure, according to KTLA.

Around 1:30 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s deputies rushed to Geneva Presbyterian Church on the 24000 block of El Toro Road for a report of numerous persons being shot.

The Orange County Fire Authority said in a tweet that firefighters and medics were rushed to the area to transport “several victims.”

The Sheriff’s Department confirmed about 3 p.m. that four persons had been critically injured and another had minor injuries. At the scene, one person was pronounced dead.

According to Sheriff’s officials, a suspect was apprehended and a weapon was seized at the scene.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a media briefing at 5 p.m. Sunday to address the shooting.

The office of Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a statement Sunday afternoon saying it was following the incident and working closely with local police agencies.
