Nay’loni Fairley, a 6-year-old girl found shot in a Lake Forest home on Thursday and later died in the hospital, has been identified by relatives.
Lt. J.D. Stronko of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said cops were called to a residence on Linda Drive off Lem Turner Road shortly before 7 a.m. Thursday after an individual was shot. The girl was found with a gunshot to the head. She was transported to a hospital by emergency workers, where she died as a direct result of her injuries.
The case is being investigated by JSO as an undetermined death, according to News4Jax.
According to Stronko, the child’s mother and two other kids were present at the moment of the incident. The ages of the other kids were not disclosed.
It’s unknown how she had been shot and who was holding the gun at the time, but Stronko believes the gun used to shoot her did belong to one of her parents.
