According to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, a Denair man committed himself by driving his vehicle into police vehicles at speeds above 100 miles per hour.
The sheriff’s department identified the individual as Javier Cueto-Aldaz, 39, of Denair.
A woman reported to authorities that her husband was suicidal and trying to harm himself with a knife. Police setup a command post along with helicopter coverage of the scene. Residents were evacuated and traffic redirected.
A negotiator talked to Cueto-Aldaz on the phone but negotiations ended when the man was clearly focused on ending his life. Cueto-Aldaz got in his truck and drove over 100mph directly into the command post, hitting three patrol vehicles.
He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
