Kenneth Petty, Nicki Minaj’s husband, has been sentenced to home detention and probation for struggling to register as a sex offender in California.

Petty was found guilty in 1995 of attempted first-degree rape of a 16-year-old girl the previous year. He was sentenced to between 18 and 54 months in New York state correctional facility, having served for just under 4 years.

Petty pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in 2006 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He eventually served 7 years, and his name is still on the New York City sex offender list.

Following his marriage to the “Super Bass” songwriter in 2019, Petty, 44, was apprehended the very next year for neglecting to register as a sex offender in Los Angeles, California, where the couple now resides.

Petty pled guilty to the federal charge and faced sentencing at a subsequent plea hearing.

Petty was sentenced to one year in home detention and five years probation for violating federal law on Wednesday, July 6.

In addition, he was fined $55,000.
