Raleigh police released videos of a molotov cocktail incident in May.

Mid-May report details events leading to police shooting Reuel Rodriguez Nunez, 37, at 2800 Rock Quarry Road.

Surveillance and bodycam footage match the report.

Nunez reportedly set fire to two patrol cars before removing a gas can and an unidentifiable container from his van, pouring liquid into white cups, and sitting in the back of his van with the back door open.

Nunez reportedly tossed three cups of an unidentified substance at Lt. M.F. Schabel’s truck, which he then backed away from.

According to the complaint, three cops asked Nunez to stop, but he hurled “flaming liquid” at Schabel’s car.

Nunez told authorities, “Today is my day to move on” and hurled another Molotov cocktail at them as he advanced.

All four police fired as Nunez threw another Molotov cocktail at Coates. The investigation indicated Coates only avoided the scorching liquid by moving out of the way.

The officers fired 30 bullets 16 minutes after Schabel’s arrival, according to preliminary results.

According to policy, four officers are on administrative duty. Rodriguez Nunez had narcotics, DWI, and child abuse convictions.
