According to investigators, an off-duty North Las Vegas cop murdered his young daughter before killing himself after an argument with his wife.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), police went to a reported shooting at a house at 4 a.m. local time on Sunday, where they discovered a woman and a teenage boy with gunshot wounds.
The two deceased victims were revealed to be the suspect’s wife and son, who were still in the residence with their daughter. A SWAT squad was sent to the residence and discovered the girl and her father dead from gunshots.
According to LVMPD, the couple got into a fight that turned violent, and the guy attempted to shoot his wife. The teen son interfered, and both he and the wife received non-life threatening bullet wounds before fleeing the house, finding refuge in a neighbor’s garage until authorities were notified.
The officer’s and his family’s names have not been revealed, and police have stated that the cause and manner of death of the cop and his daughter will be announced by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
According to police Lt. Jason Johansson, during the couple’s fight, the cop threatened to kill their daughter and himself.
“The husband did make a statement to her that he was going to kill their daughter and then himself, and it appears that is what he did,” Johansson stated.
