Authorities said a teenager was killed and four others were critically injured after being stabbed while tubing on a busy Wisconsin river on Saturday.

Sheriff Scott Knudson of St. Croix County described the scene as “chaotic” and “scary.”

“I’m sure anyone who witnessed it will never forget it,” he told reporters at a press conference on Saturday.

Five individuals were stabbed with a knife while tubing on the Apple River in Somerset on Saturday afternoon, according to the sheriff.

According to Knudson, a 17-year-old Minnesota boy was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead.

According to him, the four other victims were all critically injured. Two victims were flown out of the remote area by helicopter, and several ambulances were dispatched.

According to the sheriff, the surviving victims included one woman and three men in their early twenties.

According to the sheriff’s office, a suspect escaped the area but was apprehended without incident.

The sheriff identified him as a 52-year-old Minnesota man. According to him, a bystander photographed him, which assisted authorities in locating him.
