According to Michael Williams of the Dallas Morning News, Panthers linebacker Damien Wilson was arrested last week in Frisco, Texas, after an ex-girlfriend claimed he threatened to kill her.
Wilson is accused of assaulting a family member with the intent to cause bodily harm. Toby Shook, his attorney, refuted the charges.
“Damien Wilson did not commit any type of assault,” Shook told the newspaper. “We look forward to all the facts coming out so his name can be cleared.”
Wilson’s ex-girlfriend spoke with a DMN reporter and agreed to have her name published. Ryan Sokolosky said he showed up at her apartment intoxicated and enraged after she broke up with him, and she was afraid for her life.
Wilson is accused of destroying her patio, threatening to kill her with a tire iron, destroying her laptop, and choking her friend, according to Sokolosky. She told the DMN that he then tried to run her over with his car as he drove away. She sent the newspaper photos of her shattered laptop and the damage to her patio.
Wilson was arrested in 2017 on charges of aggravated assault. After an altercation with people who were using the area for a tailgate party, he was accused of hitting a woman while attempting to back his truck into a parking spot. Wilson was also accused of pulling out a gun during the altercation and telling police that his actions were caused by “road rage.” Wilson was not indicted by a grand jury.
Wilson was drafted in the 4th round by the Cowboys in 2015, and he spent 4 years in Dallas before joining the Chiefs for a few years. Last season, he was with the Jaguars.
