Authorities say at least six people were killed and 30 were injured in a mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade in a Chicago suburb.

Authorities said during a brief news conference Monday evening that Robert E. Crimo, III, 22, was arrested near Lake Forest after being stopped by a North Chicago officer who attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

Authorities had earlier identified Crimo, also known as “Bobby,” as a “person of interest” in the investigation. Crimo was driving a 2010 Silver Honda Fit with the Illinois license plate DM80653, according to Highland Park Police Chief Lou Jogmen. He was described as “armed and dangerous.”

Officials previously stated that a shooter opened fire in Highland Park’s central district on Monday morning, injuring at least 24 people and killing six. The suspect is believed to have acted alone after entering the building via an unsecured ladder.

Authorities also stated that a firearm, a high-powered rifle, was secured at the scene.
