The family of a man who went missing in Montgomery County 3 years ago are finally getting answers.

Rashid Young, 22, of Pottstown, was discovered entombed in a Philadelphia botanic garden in 2019 but was only recently identified.

Keshaun Sheffield, 20, has been charged with Young’s murder. According to authorities, the men were in a romantic relationship.

Sheffield, according to investigators, sent text messages and Messages on facebook to Young’s family members and friends for months after his death in August 2019 to give the appearance that he was still alive.

Sheffield is also accused of making multiple withdrawals from Young’s $2 million trust fund. When Young went missing in December 2019, the trust fund was frozen.

In September 2019, a landscaper discovered Young’s remains at Awbury Arboretum, and the case was orginally in the hands of Philadelphia police detectives. An autopsy distinguished the person had been brutally stabbed to death, but authorities were unable to identify the victim.

After being alerted by a private investigator appointed by Young’s family, the Montgomery County district attorney’s office recently became involved, and the remains were proven to be Young’s.

Sheffield is facing charges that include first-degree murder. He is being held in prison without bail.
