A man plans to sue the Philadelphia Police Department after one of its officers supposedly deleted video of an arrest from his smartphone.

Following a traffic stop, Philadelphia Police Officer Tyree Burnett allegedly deleted clips from Jacob Giddings’ cellphone. The “act” was captured by a police body camera.

According to Edwards, Giddings lawyer, the officer approached Giddings at a convenience store and told him to get out of the vehicle. According to Edwards, Giddings was given no explanation for why, so he started recording at that time.

Giddings’ phone was dropped while being placed into a police car, but it was still recording and so was the cop’s body cam. The body camera footage shows the officer rummaging through his phone and deleting the video.

Giddings intends to sue for monetary damages, but his lawyer claims that what he really wants is police reform.
