Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, is keeping her upcoming transition a mystery as she introduces her “partner in truth,” Karine Jean-Pierre, who will take over for President Joe Biden once Psaki resigns on May 13. Jean-Pierre is the first Black woman and openly LGBTQ person to hold the position, Newsweek reported.

Several media outlets reported last month that Psaki planned to leave the administration and was in discussions to possibly join MSNBC. According to reports, Psaki could host shows for MSNBC and Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming platform.

Psaki has not actually confirmed any recent reports, but she has revealed her intent to leave the White House, with Jean-Pierre taking her place.

Biden named Jean-Pierre as the next White House press secretary on Thursday:

“Karine not only brings the experience, talent and integrity needed for this difficult job, but she will continue to lead the way in communicating about the work of the Biden-Harris Administration on behalf of the American people,” Biden said in a statement. Jill and I have known and respected Karine a long time and she will be a strong voice speaking for me and this Administration.”
