On Thursday, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office released new videos displaying the turbulent moments before police were forced to shoot a backhoe driver.

It occurred around 5 a.m. on December 18, 2021, in the Penn Lincoln Mobile Home Park in Vineland, New Jersey, between Brandywine Drive and Pennsylvania Avenue.

Authorities responded after receiving a 911 call reporting an erratic driver on a construction backhoe.

Joshua Gonzalez, 20, of Millville, the attorney general’s office says, caused extensive damage to numerous residences and automobiles, including 3 police cars, an ambulance, and an occupied civilian vehicle, before being shot and killed shot by police.

Officers reportedly attempted to apprehend Gonzalez for 30 minutes before Sgt. Louis Platania of Vineland Police fatally shot him.

Officers administered first aid, but Gonzalez died at the scene.

Three Vineland police officers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
