Macon man convicted of sexually assaulting teen sentenced to 110 years in prison.

Derrick Dewayne Sallette was arrested and charged in 2020 with exploitation of a 14-year-old girl between 2016 and 2018.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Sallette, 52, took the teen girl to nearby hotels, photoed her, and sexually abused her over the course of two years.

According to the release, the victim reported the exploitation after Sallette contacted her and threatened to upload images of her on the World wide web if she didn’t let him take more pictures of her.

A Bibb County jury convicted him on Friday of two counts of aggravated child molestation, rape, enticing a child for Indecent Purposes, Trafficking a Person for Sexual Servitude, and sexual exploitation of a child.

The jury had been shown visual evidence of Sallette partaking in these acts and reached their decision in less than 30 minutes.

Sallette was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, followed by 3 consecutive life sentences and an extra 110 years behind bars.

“This type of trauma has lasting effects on our youth and robs them of hope for their future,” District Attorney Anita Howard said in a release.

“This trial and sentence stand as a reminder that my Office will not tolerate the harming of children, the most vulnerable individuals in our communities. Through our continued prosecution of such cases and with the help of my youth initiatives, we intend to turn the despair into restoration of hope.”

The Macon Judicial Circuit DA’s Office thanked the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in bringing justice to the victim and her family.
