According to Springfield police, a man was murdered in an early hours shooting on Rt. 1 in Springfield following a road rage incident.
Police received reports of a car collision and a shooting on S. State Road between Buttonwood Drive and Meetinghouse Lane around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
King Hua, 54, and his wife had been traveling south on State Road in the curb lane when a vehicle with a female driver and a male passenger passed them on the road’s shoulder, according to authorities.
Eyewitness told police they witnessed a road rage incident between the two groups, according to investigators.
According to authorities, the male passenger in the vehicle on the shoulder got out of the vehicle and started firing at the other car, striking the windshield and Hua.
“The suspect’s vehicle pulls on to the shoulder of the road, got ahead of the victim’s vehicle, got out of the vehicle, fired two shots at the vehicle which permeated the window, killing the operator,” Springfield Township Police Chief Daly described the incident.
The purported gunman then fled Springfield, and Hua was taken to the hospital, where he died, according to police.
Hua’s only daughter stated that her father was a nail technician who came to the United States from Vietnam over 20 years ago seeking a better life.
