An 84-year-old man who spent most of his adult life in prison for bank robberies was sentenced to more than 21 years in prison on  Aug. 17, for carrying out another robbery at an Arizona credit union, according to KOLD.

Authorities say Robert Krebs committed the January 2018 bank heist in Tucson just 7 months after his release from prison, as he struggled to adjust to life in the “free world”.

Krebs, who is confined to a wheelchair and could barely even hear during his sentencing hearing, wasn’t trying to hear the judge’s question about accepting responsibility for what he had done.

Krebs does not appear to be remorseful, according to U.S. District Judge Jennifer Zipps, and that his previous criminal offenses have caused harm to society and fear in others.

“This is the same type of conduct that he has been involved with his whole life,” Zipps said.

Krebs was sentenced to three years years in prison after a 1966 conviction in Chicago for misappropriating $72,000 from a bank where he was employed as a teller. Krebs also served more than 30 years in prison for a 1981 bank heist in Florida.

He was also sentenced to 17 years in prison for theft and armed robbery convictions in Arizona dating back to 1980.
