According to Pitchfork, Rod Wave, a Florida rapper and vocalist, was arrested earlier this spring on a felony charge of domestic battery by strangulation. Wave’s lawyer, Bradford M. Cohen, notified Pitchfork that the case has been dropped.

An assistant state attorney wrote in a court filing seen by Pitchfork, “From the investigation which has been made, it is the writer’s opinion that this case is not suitable for prosecution.”

Rod Wave was accused of strangling his ex-girlfriend at her Osceola County residence until she couldn’t breathe, according to the arrest warrant obtained by Pitchfork.

According to the arrest warrant, Wave, whose real name is Rodarius Marcell Green, also stated the woman was “talking to other men while they were broke up.”

Cohen described the incident to Pitchfork as “a misunderstanding between a Girlfriend and Boyfriend.”

“That misunderstanding resulted in Mr. Green’s arrest. After review of the evidence and speaking with witnesses, the State entered a Nolle Pross/ No Info on the matter and will not be pursuing charges.”
