According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office website, New Orleans Saints safety Marcus Maye was arrested just outside of New Orleans on Thursday morning for alleged aggravated assault with a firearm and is being held on $30,000 bail.

According to Sheriff Joseph Lopinto’s statement, police issued a warrant for Maye’s arrest after an investigation into a road rage incident that happened on Monday. According to the statement, Maye was identified and accused of pointing a firearm at another vehicle “occupied by several juvenile females.”

Maye denied the claims in a statement provided to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero by his attorney, Eric Hessler.

Neither the Saints nor the NFL have made any public statements about the situation.

Maye’s arrest for driving under the influence is not his first in his NFL career. He was arrested and charged with alleged DUI, DUI/damage to property and person, and leaving the scene of a crash in 2021 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, while a member of the New York Jets.

Maye was subject to the league’s personal conduct policy, but his case is still pending in court. Maye’s hearing was originally scheduled for August 24, but it was postponed.

Maye signed a three-year, $28.5 million contract with the Saints this offseason to be the team’s starting safety alongside Tyrann Mathieu.
