Sickening: 45-Year-Old High School Employee Charged With Sexually Assaulting Former Student

According to court documents, a Mitchell High School employee had an alleged sexual relationship with a 16-year-old boy who was also a former Mitchell High School student.

Sarah Jones, 45, was arrested on August 17 by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) for a class four felony of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.

According to arrest papers, on June 14, the CSPD’s Crimes Against Children Unit received information about a sexual assault on a kid by someone in a position of trust from an out-of-state police department.

Officers from an out-of-state police department phoned the victim, a 16-year-old boy, on June 10. According to the document, pics on the boy’s cell phone showed “implied nudity from his teacher that he was having sexual relations with.”  Officers then took the boy’s cell phone in order to conduct a “phone extraction.”

On June 28, a CSPD detective was given a memory stick containing the cell phone extraction, and on July 1, the boy was questioned forensically via Zoom. During the question-and-answer session, the victim stated that he met the suspect (Sarah Jones) when he was a sophomore at Mitchell High School.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim and Jones “began to talk” in the fall of 2021, and the child told Jones he “did not have a house and would bounce from house to house.” The victim eventually relocated to Jones home “before or after Christmas 2021.”

The victim claimed Jones was drunk one night in the spring of 2022 and began kissing his neck. According to the arrest affidavit, “they then went to his room…and Sarah then continued to kiss him,” but added, “they did not go any further.”

According to the victim, he and Jones “had sex for the first time in Sarah’s bedroom.” Jones’ two children were allegedly downstairs at the time, and her husband was in the hospital. “Sarah had asked if he would help her because she was having a bad day,” the boy explained.

When asked how many times “him and Sarah had sex together,” the victim replied, “approximately five times,” according to arrest documents. Jones “asked to have sex approximately 10-20 times; however, it only happened five times,” the victim added.

Jones, according to the boy, “would send large or frequent amounts of money through a cash app,” and “if he asked Sarah for money, Sarah would give him the money.”

A search of the victim’s mobile phone on June 30 revealed 4,777 “instant messages” between Jones and the boy. A search of the phone revealed several “concerning messages” and photographs sent by Jones.

A search warrant was issued for Jones’ home on July 7, and Jones was interrogated on her front porch on July 12. Jones did admit to kissing the boy “the night she was drunk,” but “denied any sexual relationship,” according to court papers.

On August 10, 174 messages between Jones and the boy were discovered during a search of Jones’ cellular phone. On July 7, the victim mentioned that he was relocating, and Jones responded, “Okay. I love you. I will always be here when we have recovered from losing each other.”

After searching the phone, several Chrome search items were discovered. Some of the searches were “would I know if someone filed a police report against me,” “signs your under police investigation,” and “if I delete my apple id, can police access my icloud.”
