Officials announced Thursday that a California officer was arrested after he was discovered masturbating by a family who had called for assistance with a domestic dispute.

According to the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, San Jose Officer Matthew Dominguez, 32, “touched himself” in front of two female family members inside a residence on April 21 and subsequently exposed himself to the mom.

The “shocked and scared” ladies reportedly went to two men elsewhere in the residence, and one of them allegedly witnessed Dominguez revealing himself in the dining room, according to the DA.

“The charged behavior is beyond disturbing,” DA Jeff Rosen said in a statement. “Law enforcement officers respond to our homes to help crime victims, not terrorize, traumatize, and create new victims.”

Officials stated that four-year department employee Dominguez and other police were dispatched to the residence in response to a report of a mentally ill family member acting violently.

Before exposing himself, Dominguez allegedly sent two other officers to find the mentally ill family member.

The officer is on administrative leave until the outcome of an investigation, according to a San Jose police official. He was charged with indecent exposure and faces a year in jail and 10 years on the sex offender registry, if convicted.
